1.      Pursuit – You have to leap over obstacles, vault over high bars, run around and sprint to the fishing line without letting the two pursuing Gladiators catch you. Hit and Run – You have to cross a suspension bridge without being knocked off by a big, heavy ball which the Gladiators control. Pole-Axe – You have to race up a 10 metre pole with pegs sticking out, get to the top before the Gladiator does and slam your hand down on a button which pulls in the pegs of the opponent’s pole.
2.    Strength, stamina, speed, determination, balance, a good head for heights, the ability to jump, run, vault, etc.
3.    ‘You’ve seen it all before.’ Unfavourable: It’s old, and becoming boring. ‘The programme has been getting bigger and better.’ Favourable: There are more Gladiators and even more sensational events. ‘Watch Gladiators, if you must …’ Unfavourable: If you insist, but I don’t think it’s worth watching. ‘The Gladiators are back for more of the same.’ Unfavourable: It’s repetitive and there’s nothing new.
