1. Pursuit – You have to
leap over obstacles, vault over high bars, run around and sprint to the fishing
line without letting the two pursuing Gladiators catch you. Hit and Run – You
have to cross a suspension bridge without being knocked off by a big, heavy
ball which the Gladiators control. Pole-Axe – You have to race up a 10 metre
pole with pegs sticking out, get to the top before the Gladiator does and slam
your hand down on a button which pulls in the pegs of the opponent’s pole.
2. Strength, stamina, speed,
determination, balance, a good head for heights, the ability to jump, run,
vault, etc.
3. ‘You’ve seen it all
before.’ Unfavourable: It’s old, and becoming boring. ‘The programme has been
getting bigger and better.’ Favourable: There are more Gladiators and even more
sensational events. ‘Watch Gladiators,
if you must …’ Unfavourable: If you insist, but I don’t think it’s worth
watching. ‘The Gladiators are back
for more of the same.’ Unfavourable: It’s repetitive and there’s nothing new.
